Brazilian vice-president Michel Temer expressed to the Folha de São Paulo his belief that the Truth Commission should investigate all aspects of political violence during the dictatorship–not just the human rights crimes perpetrated by state agents, but also the acts committed by members of the resistance movement, such as those armed groups that kidnapped ambassadors. (The same newspaper published a comment by a reader expressing a similar sentiment and referring to the latter groups as “terrorists.” The fact that Folha airs such views without juxtaposing them with other perspectives is an example of the lack of objective coverage afforded the Truth Commission in the Brazilian media).
